#2 GVSU crushes Northern Michigan, Josh Gorball named GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week

The #2-ranked Grand Valley State Lakers took a trip up north across the Mackinac Bridge to Marquette, Michigan to take on the winless Northern Michigan Wildcats on Saturday afternoon and left no doubt in disposing of the home team by a 73-14 final to improve to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in GLIAC play.

The full recap of the Lakers’ dominating win can be found right here.

One of the many bright spots from the road victory was senior kicker Josh Gorball, who has tabbed as the GLIAC’s Special Teams Player of the Week after going perfect in extra points and drilling a career long field goal at the end of the first half that also marked the second-longest field goal in program history.

The Lakers remain at #2 in the D2Football (Media) Poll, but have jumped up one spot in the AFCA (Coaches) Poll from #4 to #3 in the country this week.

GVSU now sets its sights on Homecoming Week as the Michigan Tech Huskies make the trip down to Allendale for a 3 pm kickoff on Saturday afternoon.
