No “Pitt” Stop: GVSU Women’s Basketball earns fourth Final Four bid in program history with Elite Eight win over Gannon

After a week off following their Midwest Regional Championship victory over the Ashland Eagles in Allendale, the Grand Valley State Women’s Basketball team took to the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in downtown Pittsburgh for an Elite Eight matchup on Monday night against a former GLIAC member in the Gannon Golden Knights.

After an offensive struggle in the first half from both teams in which the #2-ranked Lakers took a 22-18 lead into the halftime locker room, GVSU went on to outscore the #19-ranked Golden Knights by a 38-14 margin in the second half en route to a 60-32 victory and a berth in Wednesday night’s Final Four.

The Laker Women now set their sights on its fourth Final Four appearance in program history as they get set for the second all-time matchup against the Pittsburgh State Gorillas in downtown Pittsburgh:
